Been awhile
September 11, 2008
School started and things got a little crazy there. At one point I had 6 classes going all at once. That is way too much besides the small amount of work I was doing for The Village. But happily I am just down to two. Yah…..!
I am excited for you to come down. That should be good times. Did you secure the dates? It isn’t that far away. Maybe a month. We have so much going on, Jason and Robin’s wedding in So. Lake Tahoe, Jon’s 40th birthday party in Sun Valley, Desena and Tim’s wedding in San Luis Obisbo (Brook’s best friend). Busy weekends. Oh well, but mellow weeks.
We had our fundraiser last weekend. It was a success. I don’t know if I want to publish the drink list online but I’ll show it to you when you get here. It was really funny. I found some yummy drinks online and then Josh and I made up names for them and descriptions. For example the Palantini was one. We also had a silent auction. Steve, Josh’s uncle gave a load of rock, Brook gave a massage, Jon, Carrie, Marsii & Harley gave a dinner and lodging in Yachats, Lili gave a haircut and then I found a bunch of patriotic shit. Joel and Tathi had a dinner and between the 4 of us we raised $3100 in one night for the Obama/Biden campaign. Very Cool huh! Pa will be bummed.
Alright I best be getting to my homework. I still have that though! I haven’t thought of a questions but you haven’t answered any in a long time nor written on your blog! What is up with that?!
Day before school.

Bowl of Diamond Peak
I am so happy that you have the internet again. But you haven’t updated your page. What is up with that? We are back at Shelter Cove. The weather is so nice right now. I am sad that we have to leave our house again because school starts tomorrow. Sad. But it has been a nice week off. Did you see the pictures I sent of the hike that we did. It was so nice. There was a huge thunderstorm. I am sure you must have had one in Bend as well. The first night we hiked in their was lighting and then thunder very quick right after. It was a little scary. We got the tent set up just in time, because it started to rain right after that. The next morning it was sunny and beautiful. We hike all day and then we stayed the night at the base of Diamond Peak. Again we got the tent set up and it started to rain right after that. Hung out and read some books, which by the way I have another recommendation. But back to the hike. The second night it was scary up there because it was another thunderstorm. And we were in a stand of trees. You would see the flash of lighting and then it would rumble through the bowl of the mountain. You could feel it in your bones. I did not sleep so well, plus we had our food next to the tent and not up in a tree so I was scared that a bear was going to come. Long night. But next morning beautiful. I’ll stop blathering but it was really nice. I put some pictures on here for you to if you didn’t get to see them already. Enjoy.
Question of the week. Let’s see. What is your favorite meal? That’s a pretty easy one. I”ll call you later.

The journey begins....

Statistics is Over!
August 15, 2008
I made it through the class and there was a bit there when I honestly thought I might not be able to do this. It was nice having a little time off from traveling around to focus in and get all my shit together. But I made it. I took my final yesterday. It took me a really long time. One hour and 50 minutes. That was as long as I had. Then I went back to the apartment and packed everything up. Is Bend as warm as Corvallis was? I had to roll up the windows and turn on the air conditioning.
Now I am in Yachats. It is nice to not have that statistcs class on my brain although I did dream about it last night. Very annoying. I got to walk down to the Green Salmon and have lunch with Josh. Now, we Dave, Val, Josh and I are headed to Newport. We are going to get some food and listen to a lecture on global warming and the effects on the ocean and marine life. Should be intersting and I am sure super sad at the same time.
Cioa! I love you. Call me.
Wednesday?
August 4, 2008
Another long weekend. Headed down to the Rainier Gathering on Thursday. I was super stressed when we left because I hadn’t gotten as far as I wanted with my school work. But I just left it all at the door and took off in the car with Josh.
It was a long drive, mapquest said it was going to take 6 1/2 hours. But Josh was on a mission to find Rainier Beer. Sadly… it was a failure. We called five different stores in Corvallis, gave up on that. Then went all over Eugene looking for it. It was truly a rare sight. Next year, we are going to have Marsii order us up some. But it wasn’t until midnight that we pulled in and of course the fellas were up to greet us. Somewhat standing as it was midnight and they had been drinking. Then shortly after Tim and Chrissy and company rolled in. (Our friends from Portland) All and all the Gathering was a lot of fun. It was super mellow. It wasn’t as warm as it usually is except of course the last day when we have to go home. Jamie hooked up with one of Tim and Chrissy’s friends and we all teased him the next day. It was nice to see Nate and Lisa. I hadn’t seen Lisa since I don’t know when probably 8 months or something. Tathi and Joel also showed up and Joel was in rare form, or it actually isn’t rare anymore. He was shot gunning beers like mad man. He is very crazy, he was doing that on the river as well. I’ll try and post some pictures.
How was your week? All go well in Bend? Are you still planning on coming over on Wednesday? I think that should be a lot of fun. Let me know what you think.
Salmon River 2008
July 23, 2008
I had so much fun on our float trip. I think we are going to do it again in 2010 and it would so much fun if you two came along. Brook was with us this year (which is very crazy. She is Josh’s cousin that was in a automobile accident July 14th of 2007, ironically the same day we put in for the float this year.) Here are some photos and dialogue.
Here are two shots of the river. The first one is day four on the river. I believe we are about to hit the confluence of where the Snake and Salmon river come together. And the second pictures is a monsterous hike that Josh, Lili and Kasara, Josh’s cousin and I took above one of our beach camp spots. It was Joel’s birthday so we had to hurry up and then hurry down. We made Joel breakfast for his birthday. We did those bag omlets that Ma and Pa always do. A couple the night before had made tacos so there were lots of left over toppings. It worked out really good.
So this is one of the beaches that we camped on. You can’t see it in the picture but it goes back about 200 yards. We played a mean game of kick ball on this beach with a Sponge Bob Square Pants rubber ball. Josh and I were captains and my team was called the Bikini Bottoms and I can’t remember the name of Josh’s. But my team motto was cheat when ever possible. We won!
Tuesday was Joel’s birthday like I said and these were some hats that one of the women, Rae made for Joel and Josh. Joel just had to wear it because it was his birthday but Josh got the cool MIlwaukee Beast Hat and Joel wanted it so they had to trade. But we did get to keep it in the end. We have a picture of Josh with the hat on drinking a beat. Pretty funny.
Here is Jon and Carrie with Rae and Jonell. We put all our camping, cooking, food, everything on the boats including our the shit. You have to buy or rent this special shitter that seals up because you have to bring everything with you. It is pretty cool as a girl that we never really have to deal with this except to go poo poo. There were four boats and I think in the beach photos you can see they get loaded up.
This is a waterfall that is along the way. The first picture was on a family float drink I think that must have been over 15 years ago. And the second one is the most recent float. Very cute although I do not know what the hell Nate is doing in the recent one.
I better go. I have statistics to do. What fun!

We’re Back…
July 21, 2008
We made it back to civilization. We got off the river on Friday which was very entertaining. It is always crazy unloading boats and getting things to were they need to be. Josh took care of the money aspect and everyone seemed very happy with the cost. It was $350 for 5 days of floating. Not bad when you break it down and add in the boat rentals. I will post some pictures soon of it.
We rolled into Corvallis last night and it was a mad dash for a sporting goods store. I needed a tennis racket and some shorts for school today. Today is the first day of summer school. One month with my head down, even though there is a lot of stuff still going on such as Pa and Kathy’s Party, Marsii is having a birthday party for Harley for 3 days in Florence the Sunday through Wednesday after that. I won’t be able to fully participate. Then that Thursday is the Rainier Gathering. Then it mellows for a bit. One weekend off and then one week of class and I think Josh and I are going backpacking. Are you two interested? We wouldn’t need to go far but it could be a lot of fun for you and we can aquire the extra gear, which is just a backpack, tent, and sleeping bag. You should seriously think about it, it would be something new and it is really cheap. It would be the week of the 18-24 or somewhere around there.
What is up with you blog? I couldn’t get to it again.
Ciao!

The Camper
July 11, 2008
Shockingly we have made it to Joseph. We had a little trouble on I-5 when the camper overheated and backfired twice. Josh thought that the engine was blown and therefore had an attitutde that expressed that. I of course had no clue what was going on. I was yacking on the phone before he told me to get off to conserve battery life. Ohhh… that Josh, always the survivalist. But we found this funny libritarian mechanic in Gold Hill and fixed the problem, which was a loose belt, we got an oil change and we were on our way for under $100. Not bad. Josh was not as smiley as he is in the picture below when the engine backfired.
We are in Joseph now and it is so beautiful were Jon & Carrie live. I’ll real quick take a picture of their backyard it is amazing. This is the campers new home. I hope it will enjoy it more than it did in Shelter Cove. It got very rusty out there and I think that here it should be more dry.

More baseball…
July 5, 2008
I forgot to tell you about it, but Josh, Jamie and I went to a Humboldt Crabs game on Wednesday. It was fun. Funny how small the stadium was though especially compared to those major league games we went to in D.C. The teams were obviously not that good. You can compare the enthusiasm that Humboldt Crabs had versus the teams we saw. They just have lot more enthusiasm for it and put that little extra effort out. But there was the cutiest little girl that was in the stadium. I tried to take a picture of her but couldn’t do it without looking like a total freak. She was this little blond girl, maybe only 5 or 6 years old. The cute thing about her is that she had this huge old lady glasses that were big and round, almost circles that were baby blue and they were so thick! She was so cute.
Josh and I went to dinner after that at this little cafe place in town. It was usually good but this day it wasn’t so good. A bit of a disappointment. On our way back to the hotel after dinner, these people or should I say idiots were lighting firecrackers and they shot two bottle rockets at us. Very lame. Josh said he was going to yell at them but then he saw a little kid standing there next to the idiots. People can be so dumb. But here is a cool a couple photos that I took from that day.
How was your 4th of July? Ours was really nice. We did a little work on the house and then went over to Mandi and Noah’s and barbequed. Super mellow. There are all these fires in the area so CalFire banned fireworks this year. A little sad but we made due. We got some Bacardi 151 and blew fireballs. We didn’t get to many fireball pictures but we got some funny failures. Jamie was hilarious, again! He just couldn’t do it. He just would spit all over his hand. We had a good time.
4th of July
July 4, 2008
It is the 4th of July today. The fireworks have been cancel through out Humboldt. What does that say? Not good on many aspects. I compare it some way to our country’s profile. Are we completely falling apart? Don’t look to close because you might see the threads literally pulling apart. On to another subject…..
I thought of some books that you might like to read. I am sure you have heard of some of them. The Life of Pi. I don’t remember who this is written by, but it is a book that is about a family that owns a zoo in India(?) and are selling their animals. The family and the animals board a boat destined for America but the boat become involved in a shipwreck of some sort. The only survivors are a little boy and a 4 or 5 animals. The story is about their travels. I would recommend it. There is another one that I thought was funny also. It was is called Lamb. I am sure you might of heard of this one as well. It is the life according to Biff, Jesus’s best friend. It is pretty funny. Biff does all the things that Jesus is not suppose to do and then is suppose to tell Jesus how it went. I liked it. I’ll think of some more later.
